program will cover elementary schools of the Panama, Veraguas
and Chiriqui provinces. |
Brief description and objective of the Project:
|
This
project has the goal of answering the need of providing elementary
schools students form rural areas with a plastic "Poncho"
to protect them from the heavy tropical rain we have in Panama
from March to December, that is the school calendar in Latin
America.
Kid
from Rural areas usually has to walk between 20 to 45 minutes
from homo to school where no public transportation is available.
If raining them usually get wet and therefore sick. In some
cases the schools books and school material get wet and damage.

Who
and how many people will benefit?
|
7.000
young and adolescent population (12- years of age) with receive
the plastic Poncho in selected areas, that our club knows
that rains more frequently and that the parents does not have
the financial capability to buy their own.

How
will the project be organized and supervised?
|
The project will be managed by a dedicated committee under
the Service Avenue. The committee has been already established
and had run this project last year.

What
role will our club take in its development?
|
The
Club will order the Ponchos with the Rotary logo on the back
and will distribute them to the students. |
What
will our club provide in the way to funds, personnel, buildings,
equipment, etc?

Rotary
Club will support the project by helping with the fund raising,
by providing its expertise and knowledge in project planning,
by supplying members, partners and allies and by participating
in the project's Coordinating Team. |
Ones
the project is completed - what type of follow-up will our
club provide?
|
Project
activities will be supervised and monitored periodically during
its executing through periodic meetings of the Coordinating
Team, which will evaluate proper progress and the necessary
problem solving aspects and which will also offer recommendations
for the optimal development of the project.
