Brief description and objective of the Project:
|
To
Build and maintain a soccer field with grass and drainage
where kids could participate part of the Rotary Soccer league.
Rotary Panama Sur has organized and sponsors for 22 consecutive
years an Under 12 Soccer Tournament in Panama. Its main goal
has been to introduce positive values through sports .The
cost for conditioning a soccer field is a one time $80,000.
The club wants to increase from one category to 5 categories
(Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17) for both
sexes in a period of 10 years. We wish to star in 2005 by
having an Under 11 and Under 13 rather than a single Under
12 male version. The total yearly cost of the league is $40,000
for each category.
There
are 8 out 9 provinces that participate. Each Province is divided
into Zones which include between 4 and 6 sub-districts (Corregimientos)
each. Every sub district will hold a tournament among neighborhood
representatives in a recreational league. Each sub district
selects a varsity team which represents the area in an interzonal
group tournament. First Place and runner up passes to a third
round which will lead to a province championship.
Champions
of each province compete in a national final tournament. These
group is isolated in a Juvenile facility we have access to
in which they spend 10 days receiving therapeutical information
through psychologist which volunteer their time. The national
champion will travel to an international tournament in Brazil.

and how many people will benefit?

Over
5 years we estimated 60,000 youngsters from 8 to 17 years
of age.

The project will be organized and supervised by Rotary Sur
Soccer committee

role will our club take in its development?
|
Club
will be responsible for the design, supervision and construction
of the Field. Also Club will be responsible for maintenance
operation and cost |

will our club provide in the way to funds, personnel, buildings,
equipment, etc?

Our
Club has been sponsoring the league during the past 22. The
Committee proactively request donations among Rotarians to support
the program |
Ones
the project is completed - what type of follow-up will our
club provide?

The
tournament is a yearly ongoing project. The soccer field will
need maintenance, and we will provide it
|
