Brief description and objective of the Project:
|
The
Primary Objective of the project is to readapt the inmates
to be productive members of the Panamanian society. This can
be successfully implemented with a variety of programs that
include teaching new skills such as hydroponics, computer
repairs, woodworks and others such as self esteem. The vision
is to have five workshops. Each workshop will have sessions
for six inmates. The identified workshops are: Woodwork, Metal
work, Protection Gloves (Sewing), Aluminum Work and Block
Manufacturing.

and how many people will benefit?

Approximately
60% of the 900 detainees could be benefited.

How
will the project be organized and supervised?
|
By the Tinajita Committee, a group of Rotarians that visits
the Jail every week (Wednesdays). The Tinajita Committee is
very well organized and will supervise the project. The Committee
has already organized and completed more than 20 different
projects at Tinajita in the past two years.

What
role will our club take in its development?
|
Our
Club will develop the workshops and buy the appropriate and
necessary equipment that are required for the workshop. |
What
will our club provide in the way to funds, personnel, buildings,
equipment, etc?
|
Our
Club already made the improvements to the "dinning" area, cleaned
and painted the room, placed metal handrails to direct the traffic
of people to the serving area. Fixed the ablutions. The room
is ready for tables and chairs (photos available at fair). |
Ones
the project is completed - what type of follow-up will our
club provide?
|
Our
Club will continue with a weekly presence at Tinajita to make
sure that the workshops is serving its purpose, to increase
the quality of life of interns. Our Club will provide any
necessary maintenance to keep the workshop and equipment in
good shape.
